The Global Reading Guild is an independent, private book club. We are not an advertising business, so we keep as little about our readers as the club needs to run. This page describes exactly that.

Minimal account details

Your email for membership, with secure sign-in details if you create an account.

We never sell it

No advertisers, no data brokers, no tracking networks on this site.

You can leave

Ask us to delete your email and it is gone within 30 days.

Section 01

What we collect

Email address, when you use the “Join Guild” form. That is the only detail the Guild asks for to become a reader, and it is stored in our member list.

Name and email, when you fill the RSVP form on the Events page. Event RSVPs and your reading-progress ticks are saved in your browser on the device you used them on; they are not added to the member list, and clearing your browser data removes them.

If you create a reader account, we use your email address and a securely protected password to let you sign in. Google or Lovable sign-in supplies account information from the provider; we do not create a separate reader profile. Account records include signup, email-confirmation and last-sign-in times. Only the Guild owner can view the private account list; passwords are never visible there.

Section 02

How we use it

To share the four monthly picks and their four-week reading schedules, member invitations to private discussion spaces, and reminders for live author sessions.

To reply when you write to us, and to keep the member list accurate — the same email can only be on the list once, and nobody is added without asking.

To authenticate reader accounts and allow the Guild owner to manage signups through a private administration page. Joining the email list and creating an account are separate actions; existing email-list entries are not automatically converted into accounts.

Section 03

What we never do

We never sell, rent or trade reader emails, and we never pass them to advertisers or data brokers.

This site carries no advertising networks and no behavioural tracking pixels, so nothing you read here is used to build a profile about you.

Your email is never shown to other members or visitors. The private administration page is restricted to the Guild owner.

Section 04

Hosting, logs and where data lives

Like any website, the pages a visitor requests may appear in the basic security and reliability logs kept by our hosting provider — things such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request. Those logs exist to keep the site up and to stop abuse; they are not joined to a reader's email.

Because the Guild reads across borders, the member list is processed and stored in the region where our hosting provider runs its servers, under their own security terms.

Section 05

Cookies and local storage

We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Essential sign-in session data is stored in your browser so you can stay signed in. Signing out removes the account session.

Your reading progress and event RSVPs are kept in your browser's local storage on the device you used, which is why they are still there when you come back and why they disappear if you clear your browser data.

Section 06

Your rights, and how to reach us

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask for your email to be deleted from the member list. Deletion requests are carried out within 30 days, and you can rejoin at any time afterwards.

The quickest way to the Guild team is through the Instagram and Facebook profiles linked at the foot of every page. Tell us which email you signed up with and what you would like done.

Section 07

Children

The Guild is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their details. If we learn that a child's email reached the member list, we delete it.

Section 08

Changes to this policy

If the Guild starts collecting anything new, this page is updated and the “last updated” date below changes. Where a change matters to readers, members are told as well.
